CERTILOOP and SEPA Form Strategic Partnership for Türkiye’s Plastic Packaging Sector
STRATEGIC COLLABORATION BETWEEN CERTILOOP AND SEPA FOR THE TURKISH PLASTIC PACKAGING INDUSTRY
Opportunity for Plastic Companies to Export to the EU Without Additional Taxes
CERTILOOP, a conformity assessment body recognized with European Union Accreditation in the fields of recycled content, recyclability, and recycling facilities, has signed a strategic cooperation protocol with the Rigid Plastic Packaging Manufacturers Association (SEPA). Through this collaboration, SEPA will offer its members a solution that reduces international certification costs, enhances export capabilities, and is fully aligned with the objectives of the European Green Deal.
CERTILOOP—one of only two official programs worldwide holding European Union Accreditation in the field of plastic recycling—documents the recycled plastic content in products exported from Türkiye and enables exporters to avoid additional taxes. Within this framework, CERTILOOP has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with SEPA, one of the leading non-governmental organizations in Türkiye’s plastic packaging sector.
Under the protocol, SEPA members will benefit from CERTILOOP’s EU-accredited certification services at special discounted rates in the areas of recycled content, recyclability, recycling processes, and training. Through this partnership, SEPA will provide its members with a solution that lowers international certification costs, strengthens export capacity, and ensures full compliance with the European Green Deal.
As part of the agreement, SEPA member companies will receive a 10% discount on CERTILOOP certification services and a 15% discount on training programs. In addition, a sector-based certification report will be presented to SEPA at the end of the year. With EU-compliant recycled content certification, member companies will gain a significant competitive advantage in export markets.
OUR GREATEST GOAL IS TO OPEN THE DOORS OF EUROPE TO TURKISH EXPORTERS
Stating that their primary objective is to open the doors of Europe to Turkish exporters while raising industry standards, CERTILOOP General Manager Yağmur Eroğlu said:
“As the entire CERTILOOP team, we have regarded the effort to establish an EU-accredited certification program as a national priority. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Ministries of Trade, Industry, and Foreign Affairs, as well as to TÜRKAK, for their invaluable support throughout this journey. Enabling Turkish manufacturers to produce at world standards and to independently verify their environmental claims makes a significant contribution to our country’s sustainability vision.”
SEPA President and Chairman of the Board of Jokey Turkey, Hakan Özhuy, also commented:
“This protocol represents a major gain for SEPA members both environmentally and commercially. We have taken an important step to ensure our members remain competitive against new tax regulations in European markets.”
