A Collaboration Strengthening Exports in the Flexible Packaging Sector

CERTILOOP and FASD Collaborate on EU-Compliant Certification for the Flexible Packaging Sector

A significant step has been taken in the field of recycled content and recyclability certifications, which are critical for accessing European markets. CERTILOOP, a conformity assessment body offering certification services in line with European Union regulations and recognized with EU accreditation, has signed a cooperation protocol with the Flexible Packaging Manufacturers Association (FASD). Under this collaboration, FASD member companies will gain access to internationally recognized certification services under favorable conditions, enhancing their competitiveness in export markets.

This protocol with FASD, representing Turkey’s flexible packaging sector, covers recycled content verification, recyclability assessments, verification of recycling processes, and technical training. Through this collaboration, FASD members will be able to manage compliance with regulations such as the EU Green Deal targets, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and plastic taxes more effectively and reliably.

CERTILOOP, recognized by the European Union in the field of plastic recycling and running one of only two accredited programs worldwide, enables companies to document the use of recycled content in exports, allowing access to EU markets without additional tax burdens. Within the scope of the protocol, FASD members will benefit from a 10% discount on CERTILOOP’s certification services and a 15% discount on training programs. Additionally, at the end of the year, a sector-specific certification and regulatory compliance report will be prepared for the association.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING, STRONG EXPORTS

Commenting on the collaboration, CERTILOOP CEO Yağmur Eroğlu highlighted the strategic importance of the flexible packaging sector: “The flexible packaging sector is one of Turkey’s most strategic industrial areas in terms of both export power and technical capacity. Through this protocol with FASD, we aim to enable companies to validate their environmental claims with internationally recognized certificates and to operate safely in European markets. Supporting tangible and measurable steps in the Turkish industry’s sustainability journey is a major motivation for us.”

FASD Chairman Abdullah Tayfun Terzioğlu evaluated the benefits of the collaboration for the sector as follows: “The flexible packaging sector requires fast, accurate, and reliable action in sustainability and regulatory compliance. As flexible packaging manufacturers responsible for a significant share of Turkey’s plastic exports, this collaboration with CERTILOOP provides our members with easier access to European markets and a clear roadmap for technical verification and certification processes. We believe this protocol will further strengthen our sector’s international competitiveness.”
